Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

I was wondering what was being done to help the homeless get vaccinated? Maybe someone can speak on this. I don’t know for sure, but I’m sure there are homeless people over 60 who will want this, and I hope there are programs in place to let them get the vaccine if they want it. Just some thoughts. 🙂

Re: Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

 Would imagine anyone living in a shelter would be vaccinated when it's available in that State. If an individual is truly "homeless," he/she could contact any HHS, hospital or medical facility. I'm confident they would be happy to help work out arrangements to vaccinate that individual to stop the spread of the new viruses which are appearing around the US.

I have seen some info on this on our local TV.  There are organizations, churches and social programs trying to help and setting up vaccine centers in poor areas where homeless and those with no transportation live.

I live in PA.  We are behind most states.  We finally got a few venues opened for vaccines last week.  In the mean time we are still working group on 1a.  Some people in long term care facilities are still not vaccinated yet. We are being told there is not enough vaccines being sent to our state.

Re: Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

Here in CA, homeless people and those who live in congregate living facilities are eligible to get the vaccine starting today, along with incarcerated people and transportation and airline workers.

People over 65, frontline and healthcare workers, teachers and people with certain conditions were already eligible.  Those of us who are under 65 and healthy are not, unless we work in one of the eligible industries.

This is one reason the J&J one dose vaccine is such a blessing.

@Carmie

I have been reading and talking to folks back home in PA.  I agree they are so far back:  this is why we are staying in FL one week longer to get our second shot of Moderna.

I don't understand some of the posts on this very good topic.
