Question re: dealing with telemarketers that target seniors.

My husband has passed a magic number, and we are getting inundated with telemarketing calls. The same caller representing an institution that sells annuities keeps calling after DH is asleep. I realize it is a recession, unemployment is high, and I doubt it is anyone's dream job to be a telemarketer, so I am very polite when I answer the phone and ask nicely that we be taken off the call list (we are already on the national Do Not Call list."

We still get the calls. I am thinking about, after ascertaining it is a caller and company I talked to before and asked not to call, of blowing a whistle loudly into the phone. After all, they keep waking my husband up and he still works. They disturb my elderly mother, who does not have caller ID and sometimes struggles to get to the phone. Enough is enough.

Is this too mean?
