Question re Cellphones and Providers

I need a new cellphone. My contract is up with Sprint and considering moving on if I find a phone I really like with another provider.

Have had good service with Sprint and have looked at the new HTC Shift and really like it. But am also leaning toward the IPhone with AT&T.

Opinions or Suggestions appreciated.
