With few exceptions, I make my bed first thing in the morning. It is a habit I developed when I was young while on vacation at my grandmothers' house. She would admonish me if I didn't. All she had to do was give me "that  look", and I would race to make it. My room since then became my colorful oasis, and must be orderly when I escape to it at the end of the day.

Does 1/2 count LOL

Every morning I make up my "half" of our king bed with the comforter and matching shams and fancy throw pillows while my husband hates "fritzing with all that stuff" so his side just gets the comforter pulled up. Looks hilarious, but suits us I guess Woman LOL

 Only once did I leave the bed unmade. My son was about 8 and had a very high fever. I rushed him to the Dr.

 When we returned some of my husbands relatives were visiting the area unannounced and he took them on a tour of the house!
   I'm glad I've never met them!  😣

Re: Question of the day

For me, an unmade bed conjures up illness in the house: I might need to lie down during the day. In fact, I've been battling the flu and just felt well enough to start making it again in the morning.

I make the bed each morning but.....from the middle of April until the end of October, I'm picky.  Years ago I pieced together a quilt top in the Lone Star pattern.  Then I had it quilted by local Amish ladies. I love the quilt and always fix the bed, fussing too much over it.  Guess I just like looking at it as I'm leaving the bedroom for the day.

When the weather gets cold from November until the middle of April, I use a thicker comforter on the bed.  I just pull up the sheets, fluff pillows and pull the comforter up over the bed. No fussing.

@SuhseK

Rarely made. Not really “unmade” either but neatly turned down to air the sheets and kill any critters like dust mites. It is healthy to do this.

The bed is made every day. My small dog sleeps on it all day and I don' want dirt & dog hair anywhere but on the comforter- certainly not on my pillows, sheets & blanket.

In addition, my bedroom is on the first floor and near the front entrance. I don't want an unmade bed to be seen by a guest.

Not always made when I had an upstairs bedroom. The dogs did not go upstairs.

I hate the look of an unmade bed during the day.  It takes probably three minutes to make it ....no big deal.  It's a nice feeling when my bedroom is tidy and serene whenever I walk in there.

The only time I don't make it is if I intend to strip the sheets and do laundry that day.  Or the rare occasion that I'm sick and am in and out of the bed during the day (fortunately that is so infrequent I can't remember the last time it happened).
