I do at times have trouble with my second hole because I don't always keep earrings in it (usually just wear studs) but I have never had it take me that long to get an earring in it even after months of not wearing any it. I usually am pretty forceful the first time though so I don't have to mess around.

I only have single piercings but my left ear has begun to do that! I try using antibacterial gel on end of earring, but it still gets stuck halfway through! I find some are easier to put in than others.

When I don't wear mine for a while, they always close up. I put peroxide on earring and ear and push through. It only hurts if I fiddle faddle around with it too many times.
My left ear piercing is perfect and I can wear inexpensive earring in it. But, my right ear has always been just awful. When I first got it pierced, it got infected and the doctor told me I was allergic to metal and don't put anything in it. Naturally I ignored him and put an l8K stud in it, which it didn't mind at all. It's the same thing after all these years: one great ear and one bad ear.
