Question for Experienced Orthaheel Wearers

I just got my first pair of flip flops the other day and I have to say that my right foot feels very strange, almost like it's wanting to turn completely the other way. I know my feet are very flat, particularly that foot and it does give me pain as well as having some arthritis. Is this a normal reaction when you're first starting to wear them? I know I should break them in gradually, correct?
