I have a pair that is present daily on balcony railing or close tree, spring thru fall. They are here this winter, tho not in past 13 yrs. Often one, usually two. Last week it snowed like crazy all nite Tues. and all day Wed. Glanced out sliding glass doors and saw 2 in adjacent tree and 4 on my balcony!! Shocked to see soooo many, and my choice of perches would have been inside one of the many pine trees close by during that snowstorm. Today looked out at tree ( a flowering crab) and 8 are in there perching. So did a little googling. They usually migrate from WI. They do mate for life. They live 10 yrs. in the wild. Have huge flocks of sparrows hanging around all the time. But soo many mourning doves overwintering is really strange. Sad the windows closed as prevents hearing their coos. Are you seeing birds overwinter that did not in past years?
