Question about rebate sites and discount codes

I know that sometimes rebate sites decline the rebate amount for purchases we have made. My question is mainly about HSN. They have a code listed on their site for $5 off $25 purchases and it says you can use it as many times as you want. That's nice but do you think that might be their way of voiding the rebates?

I bought the TS and it was around $150.  TopCashback has a 13 percent rebate today for HSN purchases. I would rather get around $18 back instead of just $5 in case they use the excuse that since I used a coupon (the $5.00 code), I am not entitled to the $18 back. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, let me know if you know the rule on this. Thanks.

Re: Question about rebate sites and discount codes

[ Edited ]

I know TopCashBack will only honor coupons posted on TCB website if there are any and if any other coupons are used then the rebate is voided.

ETA-

It even says that on the TCB website...

What could stop getting a rebate?

  • "Combining promotions from another site and/or using a coupon code not posted and approved by TopCashback."

@SilleeMee @santorini , I'm not so sure about that.  I started logging all my purchases after so many of mine on all the rebate sites were not even logging.  Once I figured out what the problem extension was, I continued to log and I also logged if I used a coupon.

So, on JUN 25, I had one of those $5 coupons that you could use as many times as you wanted.  I bought 2 Perlier items, one being the Pom Oil for $34.95 and the other being the bonus buy Arm Lift cream for $19.95.  I purchased them at the same time thinking I had to to get the bonus buy, but since I purchased them at the same time, the coupon only worked for one of them.  I didn't realize it worked that way at the time.

Anyways, the total amount for the two was $54.90.  I just got cash back of $7.13 and the TCB amount was 13%, so they paid back for both items.

As they say, your mileage may vary (YMMV).

Re: Question about rebate sites and discount codes

I use Top Cashback all the time especially with HSN. I find they honor all my HSN rebates no matter what codes I use. I used one today thst HSN sent me privately for my upcoming birthday for $10 off, I already got my rebate confirmation.  I used a code on Thurs too from HSN that was not TCB listed and also received my confirmation.

That being said, if they were not to honor one not listed on their site, I would have no valid complaint.

Re: Question about rebate sites and discount codes

I think you can only get one rebate. You are right HSN may offer the $5 off coupon to keep from paying the rebate.

When I purchased Andrew Lessman products HSN only gave me the rebate for the least expensive item instead of all 3 items. I started ordering 1 item per invoice at different times so they couldn't combine them.

Now it's difficult to find coupons when Andrew is on. I don't know why since his products are really expensive.

Guess I'm going to have to set up an account with TCB if I can find coupons for HSN. Hopefully coupons I can use on Andrew Lessman products since that's about all I buy from HSN.

My HSN codes are usually sent directly to me from HSN or on occassion I find them on RetailMeNot or they are posted on the HSN home page. If you have the HSN credit card often the coupons are sent to customers who have the card and you must use their card to get the discount. Often their coupons are for selected customers only and cant be transferred to others. I just have no trouble getting TCB to honor any of them very lucky.

Definitely worth using TCB for HSN, often their rate is the highest, today it is 13% ends tonite.  Also RetailMeNot has a high rate too from HSN often.

@santorini

Rebate rules can get a little squirrelly at times.

A while back when Walmart had a good rebate percentage I ordered a 12 pack of Premier Protein shakes ... my favorite brand.

Months later I realized the purchase had been disallowed because they consider it food, and I'm betting that NO grocery retailer will ever pay rebates for food.  They'd go bankrupt.

Oh well, live and learn.
