I just googled it. There are plenty of hits by doing that. Hth (:

Thanks I am looking now. Just wondering if anyone has had this but it turned out to be nothing at all?

I had a questionable mammogram, had a biopsy and it was OK. A couple of years later I had a tumor and breast cancer. You can read and speculate all you want but, you either have cancer or you don't. Have the tests, know your family history and chances are, if you have cancer you'll find it early and do just fine.

Have you ever had any pelvic fibroids? the two seem to go hand in hand...

I agree with you. This was my first mammogram so I was unfamiliar with the term. I have to go back and have some more tests it said. I am not freaking out about it, I just don't like the way they gave me the news. I assumed my doctor would be telling me especially if something was a little off so she could explain it to me. Thanks!!

I got a letter giving the results. My doctor sent me for a mammogram and an ultrasound this week. I got the results for the ultrasound and today the mammogram. No one has told me anything. I put a call in today but haven't got a call back and probably won't until Monday. It makes me mad they would do that without having someone to explain it to you.

I am not panicked but I am concerned and I wish this news would have come from my doctor not from an email or letter with no explanation. Thanks ladies.

What was the report's impression by the radiologist who read the results?
That is what you should be focusing on. Did the radiologist compare your current mammogram with a previous one?

Was your mammogram one of the new 3D versions or was it the standard mammogram?

Re: Question about mammogram...

Generally it just means that one breast is denser than the other- I have it and they have never found any "bad" reason for it, so for me it is normal- maybe for you too..

Re: Question about mammogram...

Irish......I had one come back to me that way.....went to have another mamo, then the doctor in the lab came in and suggested that while I was there that he do a biopsy....first he did a poly, then the biopsy. I did see the spot during the ultrasound, and was glad he suggested doing the biopsy while I was there. When the results came back it wasn't anything. But, they do keep an extra eye out on my left breast.

From what you just said, I gather they just sent you a letter telling you this. If this is what they did, and it was the first time for you, can fully understand why you would have been scared. It is always best to talk with your doctor.....she can advise you and reassure you.....

Good luck with this.......

Edited by me.

Re: Question about mammogram...

What's wrong with these doctors. Yesterday my 90 year old mother called me in a panic because they'd mailed her the results of a routine blood test. Her random blood glucose test was 108 and there was a note that said it was "above average" and needed to be "monitored". She's in excellent health, average weight, good cholesterol so there's no need for her to worry but getting the results like that confused her and upset her. Unless you agree to have test results mailed and they are normal, they really need to stop doing this.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Yes, that is why I went for an ultrasound. I just found out I have fibroids. Again, I got an email confirming this but no call from my doctor so I have no idea what they do for fibroids.

I had a standard one and I haven't had a previous one.
