Question about funerals

Would you go to the viewing and/or funeral of someone you know if you didn't really know the spouse and hadn't seen the children for about 5 years (when they were in middle and high schools - I'm pretty sure they wouldn't know me, although they might remember my face)? I'm not sure what to do.
