I am not on Facebook, but view a page there that is associated with a kitten cam.
Previously, it was fine. I could easily view the content and pictures without logging in to anything.
Now, the Facebook login section scrolls up the entire page and eventually, blocks out all the other content. There appears no way to stop it or close it out.
Is there any way to prevent this?

This problem has been around for years, and it shows no sign of going away. A couple of things cause this problem, as far as I've been able to tell over time.
1. For the most part, it's a sign that Facebook has (yet again) "updated" their software. As a result, until they work out the glitches, the cookies and website data on your device can cause this login popup to appear.
2. Occasionally, the cause is that certain public pages have added an age or country restriction (or both) in their settings.
If you're using a computer, the "ESCAPE" (ESC) key usually does the trick.
On an iPad, or other mobile device, try deleting cookies and website data. This also works for computers, in some cases.
(So far I can't find a way to effect the same results as an "escape" key on my iPad, but perhaps someone else has found that trick?)
hth!

Yes, @Witchy Woman...I have been getting the same black box that you are referring to...Just let it scroll up and then you will see a "white x" in the upper right-hand corner...Click on that and you will be able to view again....This never happened before, so it looks like they are just trying to get people to sign up and being dramatic about it!...LOL
eta:...correction...It's a "white x", not red.

@MyShadowLove, If we're talking about the "please login to continue" popup, there's no way to "X" out of it. Perhaps you're seeing something else popping up?
It's not a ploy to generate more registrations, it's just an occasional bug that's been showing up for years.

Good Mornining @dooBdoo...Yes, it's the "please log in popup"...a dark shaded area that keeps moving up when scrolling down the page...If I keep scrolling, the "white x" shows up in the upper right-hand corner and I am able to delete the dark shaded area and the page becomes clear again for viewing.
Poof goes the "bug"!...LOL

That's really interesting, @MyShadowLove. If you see it again, I'd love to see a screen shot. In all the years this problem has arisen, I've never seen anyone mention the white "X" in the corner. That's normally not an option when an official popup requires a login. I'm wondering if you're seeing something not actually generated by Facebook.

The pop up Facebook is using now is different from the old login popup. This is a black box that appears at the bottom of the screen as as one scrolls the box enlarges until it cover the entire screen. It is similar to what Pinterest and a few other sites do to force people to sign in. The ESC key does not work to close it.

Thanks, @Marp! I'd love to see it. Since this problem popped up again in the past few weeks, I've done everything I can to sort of "force" it to happen but so far I haven't been successful. Never can get bugs to show up when we want them to!
