Question about Bank Stock

DH and I are considering trying to purchase some bank stock at our local bank when/if it becomes available. However, we do not know how much to offer per stock. Does anyone have bank stock in your bank and, if so, approximately how much was it per stock? Our bank has been in business for many years and is very solvent. We have dealt with this bank our entire married life. Periodically, shares of bank stock become available on a first come, first served basis to the highest bidder.
