Hi folks. I do not post that often and I don't think I ever did under the Pet Lovers category. There's something that has been bothering me and I thought that you experts may know the answers.
I know that the show dogs are very loved and very well taken care of. But sometimes it hurts my heart when I look at these dogs and think what they may be going through. I've always disliked seeing pictures posted of dogs or cats dressed up in costumes. There are grooming, blow drying, bows and ribbons. It may be cute and fun for the humans, but those animals can't tell you how they really feel. I see people jogging with their dogs on a leash along side them, and I get the same sad feeling when I've seen Cesar Milan putting dogs on treadmills or skating with them. I always think, what if the dog is tired, what if they have to scratch, what if something hurts and they can't tell you to stop or slow down. It also bothers me when show dogs are shown with the leash high up on their neck so their head is held high. Does that hurt them?
In no way am I trying to start an arguement nor am I stating that these are acts of cruelty. I am kind of of the opinion to let them live their lives as they are, naturally, without subjecting them to so much human intervention. Then there's the money making aspect. Sometimes these things just make me feel sad and I just don't know if there is any validity to what I am thinking.
Would appreciate any comments. Sorry if I don't reply to you quickly. I am at work and will look at this again soon.
Thanks !
