Question About Nike Sneakers

I saw something about Nike sneakers being reduced to $180 for one day (I think it was only one day). They showed a crowd of people rushing in to buy the sneakers (looked like Black Friday). Then I thought I heard that, after the one day at $180, the sneakers were put back to their regular price of $600. Did I hear that right? Pray tell, what makes a pair of sneakers worth $600?
