My DH's late stepmother was British. I never heard her say anything derogatory about the royal family, and we talked a lot!
I think my "stern and demanding" comment came from the image she has had to sometimes project in public, probably more in years past. I never meant that to be offensive. I have always admired her. It must be hard for her to keep up with the changes in the world as it used to be and in life, as it is for all of us.
One of my favorite movies is The Queen.
Happy Birthday to Queen Elizabeth! What a blessing to be 90, have your husband by your side, and still have lots of energy!
