Re: Queen Elizabeth II Makes Me Smile. Love Her!

She is a tough lady.  She was an auto mechanic in the armed forces.  You need to have a thick skin to be serving for 70 years.  God Bless her.  The only thing I did not agree with her on was letting Charles be next in line.  After his scandal and cheating on Diana and now married to the "other" woman -- William should be next in line with fresh ideas and his youth.

She is beautiful.   She has stood the test of time just like she said in her speech on her 21st birthday.  A remarkable, strong woman.

She is an amazing woman. Let's not count out HRH yet.

Sorry, but I fail to see how she is so "amazing".  She was born into a family and her status was handed to her.  She never had to qualify and run for office.  She never had to worry about money and has a gazillion servants to cook, clean, handle her wardrobe, and they even took care of her children for her when she was younger.   Clearly, she neglected her children because someone else would pick up the slack.

I question just how much work she did as a "mechanic" during WWII.  Each photo seems to be a posed photo opportunity to make it look like she was actually working.  (However, her clothes had no wrinkles and not even a smudge of oil on them.  What mechanic can work and look like that?)

She has nothing to do with running the country ... the government does that, and she is supposed to be "neutral".   None of the royals are necessary for that.

Yes, she has lost family members to death, as we all have.  There are "scandals" in every family, so she's certainly not unique there.  Anything she didn't want to deal with was handled by someone else.

The taxpayers pay HUGE amounts of money to support her entire family's lavish lifestyles.   For most of her life, she didn't even pay taxes!

Some Brits claim she "leads" the country.  What exactly is she "leading"?

Regular, ordinary women all over the world have dealt with MUCH more than the queen ever has, yet people think she is so "amazing".

What, exactly, is so "amazing" about this extremely wealthy and pampered woman?

@Katcat1  She sure is and has been a tough lady. I like to see her out and about, she's been through a lot in her life especially during World War II. Good for her to be out and about. ETA, I think we all know the role of the Queen and what her life is about. We are not as uninformed as you may think.@Tinkrbl44

NOT implying others are uninformed .... just that she has experienced the same things that many women do as a matter of course in life, but she is practically worshipped and constantly called "amazing".    I've read a lot about the royals, and I just don't see anything "amazing" about her ....  it's all PR so taxpayers don't feel ripped off or taken advantage of.

I totally agree with @Tinkrbl44. Good grief, some people praise & glorify her like she's the second coming. Many ordinary people---who don't have the benefit of her immense wealth & luxurious lifestyle--have dealt with far more.

@Tinkrbl44  I really didn't see anyone say they worship her and are so amazed by her except her ability to be spry and live a long life. There is nothing wrong with people liking her. It seems people that are well known have others who both like and dislike them. You just seem to be so adamant in your view and so worked up. Others are allowed to like her. Sorry I got you upset. I didn't mean to.

Re: Queen Elizabeth II Makes Me Smile. Love Her!

I don't think @Tinkrbl44 was saying people shouldn't like her. She was referring to the posts saying QE is so "amazing". And she simply stated she doesn't agree that she's so darn amazing. As you said, some will like her & praise her & others won't--- like me.
