In the late 1980's and early 1990's, I discovered Ted Leach and his fabulous ETERNA Gold Line. I went crazy buying his earrings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces of all lengths (to match of course), even some classic plain yet simple rings. At that time, he was offering both white and yellow 14K . . . and I bought both. Now, I realize what great prices they were. At the time, money wasn't tight but I always thought it over carefully before taking the leap with those gorgeous gold pieces. Did I really need them? For some reasons, I felt "Yes, I do!" Years later, I continue to wear the earrings and bangles. The others pieces haven't been worn in 20+ years! Those pieces I've never regretted buying. My grandson (age 11) already has plans on those pieces for his wife! He loves the classic pieces.

For me, each piece of jewelry has a story. It's there during the most memorable times of our lives and will most likely outlast us all. You can pass it down. It connotes a sense of a lived experience and it can transport me to a different time. When I look at the exquisite Nadri bracelet I wore on my wedding day, it's like I'm there in the church walking up the steps. It still literally has the essence of that day.
When I look at the first piece of jewelry I ever received, a 14K yellow gold bracelet from a father I didn't even know, I'm 14 years old again. I recall how getting such a gift from him made me feel. Special. jewelry makes me feel special. I collect it and thoroughly enjoy wearing it as I live my life.
It's like a silent witness of all the peril and happy moments. It makes everything more memorable for me. I realized I love jewelry because receiving that bracelet made me feel loved by my father for the very first time in my life.
I hope QVC brings more jewelry offerings in. They used to be my go to place.
Well said (written)! I have two granddaughters (9 and soon to be three) who also 💕jewelry. They love looking at pieces and trying them on.
Any lovely piece that was picked out and purchased for me was/is a special and thoughtful gift. I too, can be transported to the day, event or occasion it was given.

It seems to me the big decline in jewelry sales came when gold prices skyrocketed. QVC then decided they would raise silver prices (much higher than the price of actual silver demanded) and make their killing there. I think the silver "regulars" then lost interest in buying because of the prices. QVC now has a very large distinction between "regular" silver and designer silver. The designer stuff is priced where the old gold jewelry pricing used to be. I think that's how they lost a lot of jewelry buyers.
They now have people who say, "I only wear gold jewelry", which makes them SOL on the Q, and another group who says, "I'm not paying those prices for silver". They've pretty much alienated everyone who likes fine jewelry.

I wish they would offer some really pretty gold earrings. They used to. I always found something really special to buy
Now everything is much the same ,and nothing calls my name

My jewelry was stolen in a break-in at my house in 2016. Much of it was from QVC. I am replacing some of it through QVC (sales are best in the summer, though, not around now). Most of the new pieces, however, are from Ross-Simon.
QVC gives more info, I think, than R-S; I prefer QVC and think they have the edge on pretty rings. Far less selection of sturdy chains to hold pendants and bracelets than there used to be.

I agree with those reasons why the decline as others have stated. I myself had bought enough that I just have too many choices in my jewelry box. I do miss the shows such as an hour of Turquoise, or Mother of Pearl, even Carnelian or Tiger's Eye. (I realize these are not considered fine jewelry, but miss many jewelry shows that used to be on.)One year Qvc buyers must have bought an over abundance of Black Spinel & seemed like that's all that was on. That's when I stopped buying, except for an occasional Gem Day.

Perhaps they are waiting for the week of Thanksgiving when more men are off of work. Just a guess. I know they will be showing jewelry but we will have to wait and see. QVC needs to lure more male shoppers young and old. ![]()

I've noticed this too, @fortune. It is so sad. I think they phased out fine jewelry because they can charge outrageous prices for non precious metals and sell them out.
I have a whole drawer full of my late sister's 14Kt and 18kt gold jewelry purchased from QVC. It is sad that now we miss out ordering at such great gold prices. The other day I wanted to order a 22 inch 14kt solid box chain and got zero results! Back in the day there would be an entire page of box chains to pick from on the Q.
A good piece of news, @fortune, is that Imperial Gold is back. It's not my favorite look, but perhaps Q will re-introduce other fine jewelry lines as well in the near future.

Yeah, I just can't see that many guys sitting down and tuning in to QVC.
Sorry.

A very poignant post, @NycVixen.
I feel the same way about my jewelry. I have heirloom pieces and get a catch in my throat when I put on my grandmothers engagement ring or my mothers pearl earrings. They are precious jewelry items in two ways. It would be nice to purchase fine jewelry from the Q once again at good quality, value and convenience. I think TPTB forget what those initials represent.
