QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

[ Edited ]

Since I became a member in the 1980s, I could always count on QVC for its prolific and quality fine jewelry offerings.  Recently, the Q is featuring little or no items of 14k jewelry of beautiful gemstones set in 14k.

I know they just hired two new people to replace their well-known jewelry expert,  David, who just retired.  I guess they don't care about their reputation anymore.  But, if you're in need of flashlights, socks, or step ladders, you know where to go.

I'm so sad about this and hardly ever do "Q checks" any more.

QVC's  so-called jewelry expert who "retired" was Peyton Kelly and he didn't call it retirement.

I don't think people are buying jewelry as they once did.  We've had many posters who say they're no longer interested in accumulating more.  I know I've got plenty and don't even look at jewelry shows any longer.  If a customer wants to buy jewelry on TV, there are plenty of sources other than QVC.  Jewelry TV sells only jewelry and related supplies.  Perhaps you need to widen your search?

Re: QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

I have to agree with ya @fortune been watching on and off since the 80's too and although I certainly don't 'need' anymore jewelry, I've always enjoyed "looking" and purchasing when felt I had to have it. 🤣I know the price of gold has forever changed that, but they used to have a Sunday morning show featuring all Sterling silver pieces. I think it was called Silver Style but my memory could be fuzzy on that. I remember and enjoyed the 'Ring showcase' and 'Bracelet showcase' programs.

This was back when Kathy Levine was their top jewelry seller (and Marybeth).

All different gemstones, set in gold or silver could be featured for the whole hour, pretty blue sapphires, peridot, garnet, etc. They almost always featured that month's birthstone rings and other jewelry pieces in an hour show throughout the month.

Those Silver Style Sunday shows were great. I miss those too. I used to really enjoy Jill Bauer host those shows. Read some of my Sunday papers and peek at some pretty jewelry.

Personally I would rather spend the money on a mini-vacation or throw a small party for friends. Those kind of things make memories for me. Jewelry is pretty but to me that's all it's good for.

@SilleeMee,

My problem is that I like everything nice jewelry (only watching it is good enough for me), travelling is now my first priority and course gathering with my friends🌻 I enjoy Heidi Daus at HSN she is lots of fun.

Re: QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

I will always love jewelry. It speaks to me. I don't think I will ever be done. I learned how to make jewelry taking numerous classes over the years. It's a lot of hard work. Now, I appreciate and love it more.

For me, each piece of jewelry has a story. It's there during the most memorable times of our lives and will most likely outlast us all. You can pass it down. It connotes a sense of a lived experience and it can transport me to a different time. When I look at the exquisite Nadri bracelet I wore on my wedding day, it's like I'm there in the church walking up the steps. It still literally has the essence of that day.

When I look at the first piece of jewelry I ever received, a 14K yellow gold bracelet from a father I didn't even know, I'm 14 years old again. I recall how getting such a gift from him made me feel. Special. jewelry makes me feel special. I collect it and thoroughly enjoy wearing it as I live my life.

It's like a silent witness of all the peril and happy moments. It makes everything more memorable for me. I realized I love jewelry because receiving that bracelet made me feel loved by my father for the very first time in my life.

I hope QVC brings more jewelry offerings in. They used to be my go to place.

Re: QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

It’s all based on sales. If QVC is offering “little to no” fine jewelry it’s because people aren’t buying it in sufficient quantity to make it worth QVC’s while; they aren’t in business to take losses or waste airtime just to please a few customers over other items that would sell larger quantities and make them a better profit.

The price of gold and even of silver has continued to go up. Customers have voted with their wallets that they don’t want to buy hollow, plated, paper thin, dentable, crushable, tarnishing metals while paying the same price they once paid for quality solid 14K, because it’s kwap. They have also voted that they’re preferring to shop elsewhere for The Good Stuff - perhaps where they can trust the seller more.

Re: QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

The last gold Hoop-di-do review in January (2017), I bought my heaviest piece of gold ever.  A bangle thats like 34+ grams of gold.

And a pretty diamond tennis bracelet done in 18K white gold.  Very sparkly (and I was always leary of any gemstones sold on tv), these diamonds pleasantly surprised me.

I'll never be done buying gold, I like bold pieces and bracelets and necklaces can be paired with older bold peices I already have.

There's an arte d'oro piece I want, but not badly enough to push the order button---yet.

Re: QVC Offering Little or No Fine Jewelry

I do love jewelry and have been buying for years from the Q.  I also miss their jewelry shows.  Also, Silver Style on Sunday mornings.  I would appreciate a few more shows.  I now buy jewelry from Evine.
