@Lipstickdiva.  That wasn't her point. Do it for all or do it for none.

@proudlyfromNJThat sounds pretty close to "donate to all or donate to none."

Really???

@ms traditional.  Perhaps you need to chastise the American Red Cross as I haven't heard a word of an appeal for donations from them.  Don't they usually start these campaigns and others then urge people to donate to them?

Maybe the problem is that there is no national declaration of this being an official disaster area which would make them eligible for all sorts of benefits including low-interest loans and special unemployment insurance benefits for those whose places of employment were destroyed.

@I have heard and seen appeals by the Red Cross.

@esmerelda.  It means for QVC to use their banner for all our disasters, not just hurricanes as one poster noted.

Seemed pretty clear to me. You can keep your 'Really'.

I guess there will be no more banners for disaster relief appeals.  Including some disasters while excluding others is controversial.

@ValuSkr @ms traditional Or just have one up all day, everyday.  Of course someone would complain about that too.

@sidsmom  Since you're quoting what I wrote, I will address it.

At Walmart, at CVS, at Walgreens, when I have said no to donating a dollar to whatever they're pitching at the time of checkout, I have said no. Occasionally (not always and I didn't say always either in my post), I've been looked at and given the "look". You know exactly what I'm talking about. In a few cases I've been asked "are you sure?".

Panda Express rings a bell after you're asked to donate a dollar to whatever it is at that time. I say no. I've been asked "are you sure? It's for a good cause". I've responding with "yes, I'm sure" and a smile because I'm not 100% sure what will happen to them if I ask to speak to a manager.

Costco is where I've run into rude people. In my location, it's for the Childrens' Hospital via John Hopkins. Nope, not giving you any money. I've heard from the cashier "It's only a dollar". That isn't the point but still, smile and say no. However, there have been a few times when a customer has referred to me as "selfish" or "how sad" or "she must not like children". That last comment did cause a scene because I turned to the customer and made it known she was a twit.

Personally, I hate this. I hate that employees are forced to do this (just like asking if you want a CC to their store). If you report it, chances are the employee is only doing what they're told. Maybe not. Don't know, don't care. But just because it hasn't happened to you, in front of you or to anyone you know does not mean it doesn't happen.

Anything else I need to make clear?

Re: QVC - Calif Fire - No Aid Banner?

As far as banners and pleas for selected causes are concerned...someone has a tragedy everyday.  You just don't hear about it.  You hear about the ones that make the news, are "shared" on social media, have gofundme pages started for them.

There are plenty of people who don't get included in any of those categories.  There is constant need everywhere.  Do what you can, what you want to do, and don't worry about what others are doing.

It's never happened to me either. We must be the lucky ones.

I have to agree.  Either do it for all disasters or none.  The Q isn't obligated to do anything.

Re: QVC - Calif Fire - No Aid Banner?

Diaster Declaration for California fires was approved on the 13th by the President. I think people are smart enough to find a way to donate on their own without a banner...for the most part we are  caring & generous, always willing to extent a hand to those in need.
