I rolled my eyeballs when I read this article the other day.   Consumers "pushing back" against rising prices?  No, they are not pushing back, they simply can't afford the prices.  My energy bills have doubled and yes, gadoline is going straight back up.  Maybe the "root cause" needs to be investigated.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and I am buying less.  I won't buy something if I feel that the price went up to high.  My daughter likes these cookies which were $5 (didn't get too many in the package) and I had a problem at that price.  Now they are $6.69.  A medium size of Hellman's mayo is $11.  I've always shopped the sales and build my meals around that, but it's getting more difficult.  I don't buy potato chips or ice cream any more...and a lot of snack items.  No large purchases planned, not buying a house or car.  I do plan on purchasing window treatments.  I've wanted new window treatments for 6 years.  Prices are crazy.  I've gotten a quote as high as $12k for 9 windows.  I'm going with a company that had the lowest quote of $4k.

No, there isn't anything we need.  Our cars and home are paid off and we aren't planning on replacing them.

Groceries are high, but if you want something, you either pay or do without.  Our utilities just went up...electricity bill was double what it usually is and our water meter, unknown to us,  stopped working in June and we were only sent the minimum amount for service.  They just recently replaced the meter so we got a six month estimated bill this month.

I plan on replacing the LR furniture and have the money put aside, but I am not in the mood to deal with it now.

We are blessed to be able to afford this inflation....going into a recession. I think it will be awhile before prices go down.

@Carmie Do you think prices will come down? I think this is the new normal for us,

Based on previous experiences, I think prices will come down a little, but not even close to what they used to be.

Once the manufactures know the can sell their products at a higher price, they will use that to make more money.. Yes, a new normal for us.

Every time I drive by a car dealership, the lot is jam-packed with new cars. They said the cost had jumped up so much due to low inventory. I wonder what the reason is now for the high prices....they can't use low inventory anymore as an excuse.

I just saw a Kenmore fridge on the Costco website; I didn't even know they were selling them now. If it was the size I need I would gladly dump my two year old Samsung fridge that is a piece of junk. Worst I have ever owned.
