I like the smacking sound flip-flops make. There's something beligerantly casual about it, and yet some of the most industrious European workers I ever met wore nothing but slappy shoes. Not foam rubber, but they still made the noise. You always heard them coming and going.

The hosts can wear whatever they like. Criticizing their attire when they're working under these conditions is mean.

I do too. Smick smack smick smack.

I wear Vionic flip flops around the house instead of slippers, to help my alignment and my knees. DH works from home these days and sometimes when I go up to him to say something, he's concentrating on work and I startle him. He shouts. It's funny but probably not great for his heart.

So I smack my flip flops really loud now to warn him I'm approaching. It's like a bell on a cat. He knows I'm around. Our cats were nervous about the sound at first but now they couldn't care less.

Are you kidding me they should be happy they still have a job and getting paid why would anyone feel bad for them,I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to work under their conditions

Ah, now it makes sense. They're working. . .

It's a very demanding job. I've studied the hosts, and I don't think I could get through an hour of what they make look effortless. If you get the presentations on TV, especially HSN, just shut off the sound and watch their hands. They never stop. Always in motion. Stroking the product, pointing to parts and features, over and over again. It's fascinating to me, an aspect of sales I doubt most people take in consciously. And most of the time they're also talking. Now they're doing it all in this dislocated way, with the vendor reps on video feed. I think they're doing a great job. I applaud them, smick smack and all.

@ahoymate Don't blame it on COVID-19. Some people in these forums have a tendency to be nasty, grumpy, etc. Don't use the pandemic as an excuse for bad behavior.
