I just posted a question on another thread about the philosophy TSV...mega sizes. I wondered what happens to all the returns on cosmetics and shower gels. I assume QVC throws it aways. Clothes they can re-sell.

The mark up in price to us vs cost to QVC must be huge that they can afford to throw away returns and still make a profit.

I have wondered what happens to returns also.  I know Rhonda Shear on HSN says the returned underwear are thrown out and Tony Little says if a pillow is returned it is thrown out.  HSN is the only channel I have heard address this issue.

No more clothes from qvc for me.  There are 2 Logo style tops I have reordered for a couple years, that is it.  I have been with QVC since 1987, and the clothes up until 2001 were easy.  Everything fit alike.  It was so perfect.  If I wore a large in one brand, it was a large arcross the board!!!  Once in a while they would run large or small and the host notified us of that.  Today it ks a mess!!  Within one brand, you get different sizes...even in another color.

To pay shipping both ways is a waste of money.  And dont get me started about shoes.  Shoe sizes have changed, designers want a one size size fits all I think!  Whether you buy them on QVC, nordies or anywhere else they can be a challenge.  However, exchanges and returns, are free...along with shipping to me elsewhere!!!

i shop nordie and neiman.  The sales are great!!  I can buy a high quality top for less than qvc most of the time.  Just bought my granddaughter a MK lace dress.  The cutest fit and flare in this gorgeous aubergine color lace.  42.00 reduced from 98.   I had a reward coupon for 20 bucks, so I paid 22 bucks plus tax out the door.  I find these sales all the time.  I have never paid full price for a designer bag.  Free shipping/returns

I buy Clarks, but never again on qvc.  One time it cost me 40 dollars to try on 2 pairs of shoes.  That was it for me! The same shoes they have on qvc, they have elsewhere online for same price or less .  Minus shipping, it can add up

@chrystaltree I completely agree with you that , from what I read here on the board, ladies use totally incorrect ways to determine their size . Then complain about the product not fitting. Don't compare yourself to the models or to the hosts. What size they are wearing should have NOTHING to do with determining what size you need.Take your measurements and look at the click here measurements to determine your size.

@151949 I have tried all of that but it still doesn't work for me. Think body type has a lot to do with the fit problems.I have a short rise,no butt, small gut, long legs....pants on Q just won't work for me no matter how many others love them.I also have a fabric problem as I don't like heavy or stiff so it is hard to tell that from any description.

Re: Purchases and Returns on Shopping Channels

Very often what I watch on TV has nothing to do with what I get in the mail. My trips to UPS and the Post Office are increasing. It is not only about sizing but about how deceiving the quality is.

I guess this is the opportunity cost that we have to pay. It is super convenient to buy on line however HSN has more reasonable fees than QVC. Evine is a NONO. There is always TJMax, Amazon Prime and the three fab Saks, Neiman Marcus & Nordstrom which free shipping & return and even with shoprunner!

This is why I try to not buy on impulse online. (I do not want to pay for returns). For instance, we have sent back only a few things to QVC in many years. We have never sent back anything from other places we ordered from online. As a matter of fact, we have never returned anything to a store (locally). And that doesnt mean we just keep things we dont like. We like everything we buy. I have a friend that shops almost daily at stores and shes often taking stuff back. (I think she in particular, has a shopping addiction). That's not to say everyone does, but we just think things over a lot before purchasing.

I agree, the brands now must use different factories once they decide to add a new color and often the fit changes. I just returned a pair of D&C How Timeless and Qvc actually sent me a questionnaire on how I didn't like the fit!I was very surprised. It was only multiple choice, but chose baggy\boxy as the legs were huge. I hope they are looking into their inconsistencies. I had a pair fit perfect before and no longer can trust that the next pair will fit the same.

I figure if I go out to shop B&M stores I waste a lot of time and a lot of gas, plus I will end up buying myself something to drink and/or lunch. So I feel the cost to me in time and money to go out shopping do add up.

I don't understand justifying having to spend money to have a item shipped to you and then pay to return it by saying going to a B&M store costs time and the cost of gas.  ASsuming you are retired which many of us are or you are going to the mall outside of work hours please explain how the time involved has any monetary cost associated with it that you can calculate as a reason to willingly pay shipping costs associated with getting and returning a item?  As far as gas costs unless your shopping is quite a number of miles away I don't see that either.  BEsides, you have to drive to the POst Office to return the item.

Re: Purchases and Returns on Shopping Channels

I know when I meet up with a friend & go shopping, I spend more, too. In addition to lunch and a drink, sometimes I buy something I might mull over first longer online because my friend wants to get to another store and I don't want to come back and find it gone. So i might need to return later. If I go alone, I spend the same & gas.
