Puppy getting spayed this week...any helpful tips/advice?

Hi, I am a first time ever dog owner. My almost 6 month old standard (not mini) schnauzer is scheduled to get spayed this Friday. I am seriously very overwhelmed with puppyhood in general, and am clueless on what to expect post surgery. I am still waiting for my pre-op instructions from the vet.

I am luckily home 24/7 to care for her each day, but these puppy days push me to sheer exhaustion already.

Any words of wisdom are appreciated! Oh, and my youngest 'child' is almost 17, so I don't have to worry about keeping little ones away while she recovers.
