Publix was the emptiest it’s ever been today.

Publix was the emptiest it’s ever been today. Our neighborhood store was missing more than it has ever been during the pandemic. At least they had Publix Milk and Stoneybrook Vanilla Yogurt. They were out of ready made deli sandwiches. They had only one potato salad in the deli. They were out of Hillshire Farms Honey Ham.  They had only one three box pack of Kleenex. This store has never been this low on stock.

Unfortunately, it seems there is going to be more and more of this the closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas we get. Fortunately, here in SC, we've been blessed to have many things in stock. However, the prices have shot through the roof. I've noticed that the sales in the stores aren't that great, either. I'm finding that I don't buy as much as I used to because of the prices.

My mom shops at Publix and she has been twice looking for cream cheese and could not find it. Oats have been low also she said. I shop at Aldi and they are now limiting canned goods. We live near the Nashville area. Sams yesterday was low on chips and snack foods.

@Mindy D

From what I see, it is going to get much worse. Hasn't really effected my family, yet! As a big optimist from the direction I see things going? I am also a realist.

Scary isn't it?

I won't say anymore than that.

I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow @Mindy D. It is my least favorite thing to do. I usually go to Publix in Coral Springs (FL) and occasionally Walmart there as well. I was at Publix a few days ago and everything looked normal. Walmart is usually the one with the empty shelves. We'll see what I see tomorrow.

@Mindy D Here's hoping the empty shelves were the result of a "perfect storm" weekend. Everybody got paid Friday whether monthly, weekly, bi-monthly. It is Halloween weekend so maybe they all hit the store at once.

At least we can hope that is what caused the problem. It would be interesting to check it again about Thursday to see if everything is restocked.

I have my groceries delivered. It's a game of substitutions. I now go through my entire list and give substitutions for each item. Sometimes I get what I ordered. Other times it's the substitution. Increasingly, I get nothing in exchange. When Aldi's's got their turkeys, I ordered one immediately. Same with apple pie and cheese cake. This week there were some interesting holiday items and they're on my list. We'll see how much is available.

No Publix around here. The two stores we use are stocked. Husband also goes to Costco and came home with everything on the list but I didn’t ask him if the store was fully stocked or if there were empty shelves.
