The entire village is helping those who lost their homes or have been impacted by the wildfires and the floods.
This is the Relief Center where those with nowhere to live can get help and shelter.
The long trailers on the right behind the shorter ones each have 4 rooms that have climate control and can be secured to keep personal belongings. Each room has bunk beds. The tent areas house Red Cross who is serving 3 meals per day and multiple other services. There are shower units that have individual showers and individual restrooms in other trailers. Multiple service agencies are there. People who have cars come and go at will. They are working to get victims into permanent housing and provide needed resources.
This is where the National Guard brought the flood victims yesterday.
Residents have organized and are providing free evening meals to anyone who needs them. One of the churches offers a free lunch every day.
Grief counselors from all over the state are volunteering services at no charge. Every major insurance carrier has set up temporary corporate offices around the village to expedite claims.
Many volunteer groups are here helping sort through fire debris. It is an overwhelming task considering 500 homes were destroyed in the village. The county has not released official numbers as far as I know but estimates were 1000 structures. Clean up from the fire is hampered by the monsoon rains and subsequent flooding.

How nice for you to mention this, for those that may be affected or knows someone that needs these resources!
Kudos to you!

This completely unnerves me that yr Tx SRep Ted escapes out of state (again), from his constitute's emergency, to his own enjoyable, safe location, & continues his enjoyable PodCast fun, when his own state is in crisis, yet again, rather than any of his determined knocking on DC doors, to get aid, when his State is again in crisis mode. Im fuming with every day Tx citizens struggling thru this, as well as their lives, homes, animals & assets. And he's no where to be seen (except initially at his airport escape) He sure knows how to knock on doors when his position appears to be in threat.

I hope so. These TX residents dont deserve all these outrageous repetitious, multiple deadly calamities, & there will be no stop to them, yr after yr, it seems.
Esp since a lot of their energy sources are independently operated, & often they go bust during compromised environmental calamities. Even more of a reason for Ted to be on the job, helpful. He's spozed to be connected! Huffing & puffing for help.
I remember even one time past, ppl were burning their own furniture & home pieces for lack of heat! And still they had Tx residents dying then! Outrageous.
And that Ted was caught doing the same thing, a warm escape vs any constitute help!
Just want to kick him in the pants! But Im not a constitute - means even more nothing.
They have & have had good alternatives.

"Texas is the lone state in the contiguous United States with its own power grid.
Embracing the go-it-alone spirit of the Lone Star flag, Texas power companies chose to keep their operations within the state’s borders largely to avoid federal regulation.
The infrastructure owned by these companies link to form the Texas power grid, which is operated by a nonprofit corporation called the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. ERCOT is overseen by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the state’s utility regulator, and the Texas legis....." (ref: Houston Chronicle)

It's really nice that you posted this information. I'm so glad to know the community is pulling together to offer this much needed assistance and support. I can't even imagine the devastation everyone in these areas are still experiencing.❤️

Flash flooding warning on TV right now for Ruidoso residents this afternoon. This could go on indefinitely as we appear to be having a very active monsoon season with daily rains in the mountains.

@Kachina624 There is a wall of water coming down Highway 70 which affects travel from Roswell to Alamogordo. I can't get an understanding of how large it is. It may stay in the ravine.

@Kachina624 Officers are discussing closing Highway 70. They are closing it at this moment.
Edited to Add: This is from the Salt Fire Burn Scar.
Now they are asking for Swift Water Rescue Team.
They are asking for the National Guard rescue trucks. Elderly lady trapped in home.
