Does anyone use these? The Nepro ones are so expensive, family member needs more protein in their diet. I was wondering about Ensure but I don't know how good it might be for them.

Hi nafecar,
I wish I could help you. All I can suggest is to check with a dietician for recommendations, and sometimes they can provide samples to try so that patients can choose a flavor that they like. Good luck.

Hi Nafe,
You might want to check out Boost Glucose Control and compare the nutritional values and price with the Nepro.

nafecar.......these kinds of questions should be asked to your family member's doctor. No one here knows that person's physical problems.......

My mother was on dialysis the last few years of her life, and I believe they gave her a diabetic equivalent of Ensure called Glucerna when she didn't want to eat anything or nothing else tasted good to her.

Nafe,
Just had a thought. Has H's doctor prescribed Nepro or another high protein glucose control supplement? If so it may be covered by Medicare. I know it is in an institutional setting but it may also be covered by your Part D.

In Washington state, my mother was on Medicare for her dialysis, but she was also a private pay supplemental insurance holder.
