MSN has an article on their homepage about the worst places to retire and one of their criteria is property tax. The thing is though, it is not just what you pay but also what you are getting for the money. When we lived in Pa. our property tax was well over double what it is here in florida for a home of nearly the same value. Plus in Pa we also had to pay separately for trash collection, EMS service, fire department,we even had to pay a tax to cover the street lights (maintainence and electric). here for much less money we have all that included which makes it an even better deal. So when someone is considering buying a home and you look at the taxes you should also ask what that includes.
Also in Pa we had to pay income tax to the state, and the municipality where we lived. We have no income tax here at all except federal.
