I haven't been able to get in my tub for 3 years because of knee surgeries and heart bypass. I'm hoping after PT, I'll be able to take a bath again. HATE showers! But the fireplace will still make for nice ambiance in my bathroom even if I can't bathe. It's a big bathroom and the ceiling heater takes awhile to heat up the room. I'll use the electric fireplace without the heat just for the pretty ![]()

Your fireplace must already have a working flue / open chimney so do NOT go ventless because there is a nasty smell!
In our prior home we had a regular fireplace with a chimney but it was built with a bad design so it constantly smoked up the house. Soooo, we removed the chimney and added a ventless propane fireplace there. Huge mistake. It was awful, smelly and we couldn't use it. We wound up rebuilding it back into a vented gas fireplace-
A propane fireplace is great, but VENTED with a working damper. Some have heat generators and fans too.Best wishes!

Centipedes
The other day I picked up what I thought was a small stick. Figured it was something the dogs brought in. I had it between my fingers on the way to the trash with it when it started squirming. It was a centipede! OMW! It was trying to kill me ![]()

We coverted our wood burning fire place to gas 20+years ago. I do miss the smell of wood burning but not the mess.
We had a gas line run to the house and we heat our family room with the gas heat. Currently I am sitting in front of it...love the warmth. We also have a remote, I do not leave it running when we are gone for the day.
We had a gas fireplace company install our unit...they service it every other year and it runs like it was new. The cost on the budget for gas is $24.00 month year around.
I would look for a gas fire place company.

A fireplace in the bathroom sounds divine! @monicakm
We have a ceiling heater and floor heat (never turned on!) But the ceiling heat--I swear it makes me colder once I turn the hot water off and step out of the shower.
It does work, because grandchildren have turned the ceiling heat on in the middle of summer, unknowingly. It gets hot!
Your bathroom will be cozy (and sexy!) with an electric fireplace.

When we converted ours I went to fireplace store. They were very helpful, installation was good. Best thing we ever did -- just flick the switch and enjoy!

I know, I know. We would like to have a propane (gas is not available here) fireplace but since it's an add-on (I guess) the flame/heat is not adjustable according to the fireplace store saleman. No way would we want a flame that is one temp and one size.

I've been wanting one for years. The last house our daughter built had a fireplace in the master bathroom. Her houseplan was the Forrest Gump house. She had an old clawfoot freestanding tub in there too. I like my stuff new in boxes that no one else has used lol
