Just happened to remember that my sisters used to laugh at me the way THEY said I pronounced the word PIE. Was a long,long time ago when we were children.

Can't really think of how to spell it the way they said I pronounced it, but it was something like this....pahwee

Philadelphia accent? I'm from Delaware County, PA. Woman Wink

LOL, are you new?    Telling people how to pronounce something is a very passionate topic.   I've seen these threads get closed.

@debic  What are you talking about? This is all in good fun. There's no right or wrong way for these words. People are joking around. We're just talking about who says what and how. No biggee!

Oh Yes - the dreaded "New-Cue-Ler"  - one of my pet peeves...along with

pronouncing Realtor as "Real-a-Ter"  instead of "Real-Ter"...

and I, too, thought Marquis was pronounced "Markee" (8years of French)

There is only one correct pronounciiation, it's  the long E.

That simply is not true.  However, I have never quite seen "pronunciation" spelled like that.   😊

@magicmoodz, good one, as usual "Miss Know It All" doesn't really know it all.

How about "envelope"?

Some say en-velope, some say on-velope and some say an-velope.??

@Cakers3

I also say "ee-ther" with the long "e."

It came up because I've been watching election coverage on CNN and they all use the long "i" and I started to think I've been pronouncing it wrong all of my life!!

I think they think they sound more sophisticated saying it that way.  JMO
