I'm curious if anyone will be watching Project Runway Junior?
I'll be watching. I really enjoyed last season.

@snpets Project Runway Junior is a brand NEW show
with their very first season premiering 11/12/2015.
I think you're thinking of the show Project Runway: Threads
that had young designers.
@Julie928 I'll probably watch Project Runway Junior.😊

Thanks newziesuzie! Can you tell I really haven't been paying attention to all the promotion?? LOL

Ita there used to be creative designers and interesting
personalities, something's missing and
I hope they can get back the "magic" they used
to have. The old shows used to rerun a lot and it
was fun to watch. I liked many of the designers
in the previews for this season in the road to the
runway show but something happens and it's like
the judges kill the designer's creativity or something.
They need to pick more carefully in the auditions
and then let them BE themselves with their designs
imho.

I thought this season's show was just very lack luster. None of the designers were great. In fact it was so dull, I fell asleep last night before they picked the winner.... The plus sized gal won I guess.... None of the last contestents were good enough to care who won.

I haven't watch PR much since they moved it to Lifetime. I only watched about one whole episode of this season along with bits & pieces here and there. I did watch the finale last night and I have to say I agree with Tim Gunn's assessment. While I LOVED one....maybe two designs from each designer, I couldn't get into their whole collection. I will say that I did like Ashley's (is that her name?) the best and was glad she won.

Peek-a-boo lace looks like something Kim Kardashain wears and gets slammed for exposing her thighs. These models had a good 50 pounds on her. Why would you put a huge zipper up a lady's derriere? The romper, that was so tight the poor girl broke the zipper, was bunched up in her crotch when she walked. The show stopper gown was beyond hideous. That collection was awful. If these poor models were seen on the streets in any of these outfits, they'd be featured as fashion magazine DON'Ts.
The 10 minute commercial breaks were annoying to say the least.
Tim Gunn's suits look 2 sizes too small on him.

I so agree with this. I wish they would give the show back to Bravo and see if they can breathe some life back into it as those in my opinion were much more interesting and they selected much more talented designers.
Last night was tough to sit through and they added on an additional 1/2 hour on for no reason other than to promote PR Jr. and squeeze in a ton of commercials.

lol, I guess I'm in the minority, but I more or less liked the final collections... and I was really surprised that I did. There was no standout, awesome collection but the collections were decent.
After I saw the runway shows, I thought that: Ashley would win, Edmond and Kelly would vie for second and third places, and that Candace would be first to get bumped. Still I was a bit surprised to see that this was how it turned out... mainly because there was no really great collection.
I had thought that the mini shows for the judges would have spelled disaster for the designers, but they each did a great job of upping their game.
___
ASHLEY
I had an emotional response to seeing her collection on the runway. I think the blue pops of color and blue outfits saved her collection from making it look too pastelly monotone. And I was really glad that she scaled back her use of the flower headdresses.
I was really impressed that somehow she made the clothes fit on all of these plus sized models who are much harder to fit than typical runway models who don't have many lumps or bumps. She does have a good sense of color and, as the judges mentioned, these clothes are also flattering on size 0-2 women.
Having listened to male PR contestants bash having to dress larger women (size 10-12 and up), has irked me more and more each season. One of the reasons I find it so horrifying is that this kind of behaviour doesn't exist in a vacuum: if some of them feel this way, then there are any number of top designers who also feel this way and express it by not making clothes for real world women.
I really love the fact that Ashley was celebrating real women. It's way past time for this to happen in the high fashion world... I mean it took PR 14 seasons for this to happen. -- I really don't want to see real world women so carelessly humiliated in future PR season.
What has been even more stunning is that any number of male PR contestants who bad mouth plus sized real women are not size 4-6 themselves. And a number of them are carrying around a heck of a lot of extra heft. Do they just never look in the mirror???!!
The one thing I didn't like was that I sort of felt that we were starting to see a smug side of Ashley that I didn't like at all. There was something in her tone that suggested to me that she felt as though she was a bit above the remaining contestants. -- It may have just been that she was overcompensating for her general lack of confidence, but I just didn't like it. She needs to be careful about this because she's still low woman of the fashion totem pole.
___
KELLY
That bag of glitter that Tim brought back from Mood made all the difference in Kelly's runway show. While it's not my style, I thought that Kelly had a good show. That said, I'm still trying to figure out how she spent $9,000 on this collection. I think this collection would be prohibitively expensive to actually sell.
Kelly has really blossomed on this show and she is the only one who has real creativity. I hope that she will get offers that would help her move forward with her career.
Tim Gunn used to run the Parson's School of Design. It would be great if he could use his contacts to get her a scholarship to Parsons or some other design school. -- With a proper fashion education, Kelly's potential could just sky rocket.
___
EDMUND
Edmund has been my sentimental favorite since the beginning. He's a charming, hard working guy. He reminds me of Laura (who also was in the final group) from one of the early seasons. They each make lovely gowns for women and there is a real market for "After 5" clothing. From what I've heard about Atlanta, there's a very solid market for this clothing there.
I think PR has given him the exposure that he needed to make his mark there. Yay Edmund!!
___
CANDACE
I never really got a sense of what would make her a fashion designer. She has her own style and she is a great tailor, but I don't see a unique point of view.
When I looked at her collection -- which, thank goodness, she finally toned down -- all I could see was North Beach Leather. It's a great look, but someone else is already doing it.
I think it was Nina who said that her designs were derivative of Alexander McQueen and I could sort of see that (even if Candace wouldn't). -- Christian Siriano had worked with McQueen and you could see that influence (plus Vivienne Westood's) in his amazing PR black gown... but it was clearly a Christian Siriano creation.
Candace will do just fine working for someone else, or in her own local boutique. But I don't think she is a fashion designer.
_____
I think that the runway show saved this season from complete disaster but they really need to be on their game next season to salvage the PR brand.
As much as I have a sort of love/hate relationship with Christian Siriano he has a very strong point of view which will be important for the upcoming PR juniors. And since he was just 22 or 23 when he won PR, he's close enough to the contestants ages to be able to really understand where they are coming from. From the advance clips, he seems to have compassion for these young people while still letting them know that they have to be on their game.
I'm looking forward to PR Juniors. If it works, then it will buy the regular PR some additional staying time.
Also, does anyone know when PR All Stars will begin?
