Productive sight on the highways

As these two snowbirds drove home from FL, we saw an extraordinary number of tractor trailers.

Hopefully, they were transporting much needed supplies.

Did twelve hours each way to CA and back to AZ day before yesterday and you are right!  There were many more semi trailers than there are usually.

Slightly off topic but WOW, does a good road trip sound like heaven right now!

And....another thought....I used to dread traveling next to tractor trailers on the highway. It is doubtful I will ever look at them the say way again either!

Did you find hotels and restaurants open?

I drove from Northern MI to Detroit and back. Traffic was very light. Not many semi's but all interstate rest areas open.

Most hotel parking lots were empty. A few cars at a Holiday Inn Express. Most restaurants closed but a few posted makeshift "carryout or drive thru open". One sporting goods store open as was a Lowe's and a HD.

Whole Foods was open, limited hours. Limit of 2 of everything. Freezer cases picked clean.

We got burgers to go. Only 5 ppl including employees in at one time. Lots of people out walking or biking.

Truck drivers are among those on the front lines as the U.S. fights through the COVID-19 outbreak. Between stocking grocery stores and delivering critical supplies to hospitals, the trucking industry is a driving force in keeping the country operational.

Truckers are so crucial to our situations.  I am hearing they are having difficulty getting food and places to sit and stretch.  That is regretable.  I hope truck areas accept them inside.   I know one poster has trucker daughter.  Any other insights?

Everything we own was @ one time on the back of a truck. it was that way before the virus & it will be that way long after this virus is forgotten. it is a lonely, thankless job.
