I will need some help, but have to get some basics set up there.  When people start to show up, I will have no assurance if people are who they say they are.  It will be a situation where I have to build trust with people from the ground up.

I also have no desire to be a mod every day (or ever, if I'm being completely honest).  But this is something I have now started, so I will do that for a bit.  My beliefs about many things are moderate, so I would not be looking for mods to bring the hammer down on "the other side."  I would like to have an environment where people can express themselves respectfully.  Pro Boards has a policy against misinformation regarding a certain world problem happening right now.  That is not under my control.  Just letting people know ahead of time that is their policy.

You can have people sign up using their nic that they use here so that you are familiar with them. Once they are in they will be able to change their nic to another if they want. You will have to approve each person to allow them access to the forum.

@Mellyg has submitted a request at Proboards also.  Whichever one ends up being the permanent one, I'll be happy to help any way I can.  It apparently takes about a  week to get your forum approved by ProBoards. I had offered to try and start one, but since it appears others have already started the process, I won't.

@MG Chris  I agree, there appear to be many, maybe too many, different efforts afoot. I do hope there is some effort to coordinate with @Mellyg who has also already taken action to create a home at proboards. The last thing any of us needs is multiple replacement forums and them more confusion as to where to go. I believe @Cakers3 mentioned this as well. All efforts are appreciated but a coordinated approach is probably going to work best. Here too is the link to the thread about proboards where disussion about what has been done appears.

@phoenixbrd  To clarify, it looks like there is already a board up, run by Melly.  I haven't talked to her; I was under the impression there was no other board.
