This is one subject that unites the far right and the far left.
Too bad the ones in the middle are so beholden to the lobbying and money they receive from for profit prison companies.

In Europe, murderers and rapists will likely be released, and they have the crime rates to prove it. In Britain, there's even a "duty to flee." If you hurt the criminal too much fighting back, you'll go to jail, too. The cost to society for housing these nuts is less than the property, physical and emotional costs. As for those jobs, if you're violent, or you're a thief, I wouldn't touch you with a 10-foot pole.
By any measure - they are MORE crimes and you are less safe in the USA than in Europe.
Where do you get your statistics from?????

Exactly! If they were more unpleasant maybe more people would fight harder to stay out of them instead of making a life of crime.
Amen sista!

True, but how else do we keep these addicts that commit criminal acts away from the public? Sure we can send them all to rehab, but are you aware of the recidivism rate for drug addicts? It's quite astounding that most of them relapse, even after many attempts at getting them clean. So that means that they're right back out there, committing heinous crimes at the expense of the innocent public.

But poor people do.
