Elvis died at 42. THAT is a tragedy but he poisoned himself into the grave.
He took a list of drugs as long as your arm and drank heavy, had a diet that was awful, jumped around on stage like he was 10.
His system just simply shut down. He had terrible trouble with constipation because he was taking dilaudid, placidill, diazepam, morphine and huge quantities and those are only for starters. Those kinds of drugs do have a tendency to bind you. I was in hospital for pain management after surgery and it did that to me but I was seriously hurt. After I was released, I stopped all pain meds. I was still in pain but could deal with it. Elivis just wanted the drugs. I feel sorry for him.....only 42 and dead. I saw a documentary, not a movie about him and his closest people were speaking, not stand ins. His personal hair dresser was the last one to see him before they closed the coffin and that was it. VERY, VERY sad. I cried. His wife has every right to speak of him and her daughter. They were world renowned. Jackson too was just as well known but I don't think drugs were Jackson's lifestyle. Yeah, everyone parties but I believe Michael was "hit." Michael was only 50. Michael was dubbed, "A young Sammy Davis" because he was SO loaded with talent just like Mr. Davis. I enjoyed him very much. So, So....very sad.

@ROMARY wrote:'Still'.......it's hard (for me) to think that Elvis and his daughter died very young.
Could I be wrong, but didn't his mother also pass away at a young-ish age?
I do think that Lisa Marie could have survived whatever medical problem she had at the time. A trip to the ER when she wasn't feeling well, etc.
Well, RIP Elvis, his mom, and Lisa Marie.
Also thinking of Matthew Perry at this time.
@ROMARY @She died from small bowel obstruction. Tragic. Had she gone to the ER earlier they could have seen this with imaging and treated her.

Most Elvis fans know his history...enough to know he wasn't a drinker, much less a heavy drinker.

I get MJs older performances in my FB feed. In some of them he can't be any older than 8 or 9. A phenomenal talent for entertaining. Just mesmerizing even as a young child. I can't think of any contemporary who comes close.
I don't know what he was thinking when he married Lisa Marie, but I tend to think that Priscilla would know.

I don't want to comment on Lisa Marie and Michael Jackson's marriage, only to say this about superstars like Michael and Elvis.
I think their addiction to drugs in Elvis' case and surgery in Michael's case happened because NO ONE would say NO to them. Had Elvis had a physician who wasn't out for money himself and actually honored the Hippocratic oath and monitored his health and medications carefully, things might have been different and Elvis might have been in better shape. Of course he would have to keep drugs away from him completely. And that probably would have been hard.
Same with Michael and his many surgeries- that couldn't have been good for him. Someone should have stopped him and told him it could shorten his life. Of course he may not have listened. IDK.
I read Lisa Marie's early death was due to complications from bariatric surgery.
I see another superstar heading down this road.
