Princess Eugenie Shares The Meaning Behind Her Son August's Name

"We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank," Eugenie wrote on Instagram.

Naming a child is an important rite for any new parents, all the more so for members of the House of Windsor. It's not enough to choose a name you like—there are so many more things to consider, from whether to pay homage to a notable ancestor or to choose a name with a hidden meaning worthy enough for a royal moniker. And then of course one has to consider the added pressures of having all the royal watchers, experts, and enthusiasts anxiously waiting and predicting what the newborn's name will be and what it will mean.

So what is the significance of August's name?

On Instagram stories, Princess Eugenie explained it simply. She wrote: "He is named after his great grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers."

@Love my grandkids The Cambridges have a full security crew. Eugenie and her sister do not have government provided security. William and Kate lived in the country near her parents when their children were young in an effort to shield them from the tabloids.

At one point ISIS threatened the life of Prince George, if I remember correctly.

There are serious legitimate security concerns for all children of royalty. As a result the parents have zero obligation to share pictures.
