I remember as well.  We were headed to the US Open tennis tournament in New York when we heard it on the news that morning.  There was a moment of silence held in the stadium that afternoon.

Re: Princess Diania

[ Edited ]

I remember it was late, and news came on.  First, that she was in an accident in Paris!!! I had hooe for bit...Then, this somber report came ,  Princess Diana had died.... I was floored.  Just stunned.  I think I have the whole funeral on VHS, can't watch those anymore. She was just so intriguing , and kind. I wonder, in this new internet world how her life would have played out.  I am sure of one thing though.  Had she survived, her boys would be emotionally different.

I remember hearing that at first she was in a serious car crash.  Then, later they said she had passed and I was floored!

We were on vacation at the beach.  We were already asleep when the news broke on TV, but our sons were still awake and heard it all.

The next morning we got up early and went down to the beach while sons were still asleep.  So it wasn't until mid-morning when we went back to the condo that they told us what had happened.  At first we didn't believe them, thinking they were just playing around.  Strange to remember that back then we didn't have phones bringing us news alerts constantly.

I remember it was night. One of the News channels had a camera set up to cover the opening to the tunnel.  The longer they stayed on it the less hope there was anyone was alive.

I remember I was delivering newspapers at that time. I was loading them into my vehicle and saw the front page and was horrified. People met me at the door waiting for their paper and crying!! It was so sad and shocking!

My late husband I came home from a nice dinner. I rolled down the covers and he turned on television when I was washing my face to go to bed.  He did say  loudly please come to the TV.  Princess Diana is dead. That is my remembrance.

I remember that day. However, my father died on 8/31/2001. That death overshadows tomorrow for me. 911 happened just 12 days after dad died. I was in shock/auto mode then. I will not be able to watch the 911 remembrances on TV. The entire time was traumatic for me.

Diana was a favorite royal of mine. A beautiful lady.
