I hope her sons are pleased with the statue.

Re: Princess Diana statue

[ Edited ]

It's a lovely statue. I don't understand why people don't think it is a good likeness to Diana. I think it certainly is. So many critics here. It was not a tribute to her sons but to her work for children of the world. No reason to show her as a glamorous tiara wearing princess. At the time of he death she was no longer a shy Di but a confident woman.

I assume the look was very studied, and to emphasize the woman rather than the beauty and fashion icon.  Maybe this reflects more how children saw Diana, including her sons, and that aspect of her was was important to convey in the statue to them.

Beautiful statue.  Diana made a difference and she was truly loved by the people for being so sincere.

I think having her sons on each side of her would not have captured who Diana was-a loving mother, yes, but she was an insipiring example of how caring for children is so very important.

It's a nice tribute.  If Harry and William had been sculpted at a young age on either side it would not have made sense.

This was about the whole person.

Nice statue.

I'd also like to see her depicted as a Greek  or Roman goddess, carved in white marble.

Gown flowing in a breeze.

Would be nice, imo.

Honestly, it looks nothing like Diana.

It was nice to see William and Harry together. I think the statue is clearly a depiction of a mature Diana had she lived to celebrate her 60th birthday. I think it is beautiful, and you could see both of her sons were happy.

I don’t care for it. The statue is too matronly looking and doesn’t even look like her. The physique is different than hers was too. It could’ve been done better. JMO

Can´t please everybody. As long as her sons are happy with the statue, that´s what counts.

I believe that they were kept in the loop from begining to end and some things they objected to and some they approved.
