It's just my opinion, but I was disappointed in the statue. The face, in my opinion, did not express Diana's sweet demeanor. The skirt, blouse, and large belt on a figure that did not look like Diana's true figure took away from the statue's purpose. Somehow, the artist should have made the children appear more clearly appropriate. It takes a little time to understand their roles.

i'mnot saying that the Diana statue is anywhere near as bad as the first Lucille Ball statue in Jamestown,NY. People were so appalled by its hideousness that it was removed and the so-called artist stopped sculpting....yes, really! The replacement statue of Lucy is beautiful and lifelike. In any case, if the British people and the royals like the Diana statue, that's all that really counts.

I just Googled the Lucille Ball statue because I could not recall how dreadful that first one was.   Man!  No wonder I couldn't remember that abomination.  I think my brain expunged that purposefully.  Smiley Very Happy    Agree the second one is very nice.

As to this one, I agree with others that it doesn't really do her physical beauty justice but it's nice, over all.

I hate to say it but I don't find the statue attractive. It doesn't capture her essence. But others might find it inspiring.

I think the statue is supposed to be timeless and meant for people who wouldnt necessarily know her story. In that way, they made her not young, not old, not super pretty, but still attractive and in clothes that will be classic throughout history.

It's confusing because we do not know who these kids are

There is a picture of Diana in the same outfit as depicted on the statue.

Too bad the sculpture isn't using her own boys as the children.  I'd have preferred that.  It was ok, to me, but a lovely painting would be better to me.

I like the statue, I think it's a good likeness and I like the concept.

Personally I would've liked to see the shy, head tilt, winsome smile but perhaps that's hard to capture in a statue?

I read that the statue was meant to convey the later stage of her life where she was "more confident," so that may be the reason.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan of this statue.  I don't like the way the third child is behind the girl and you have to look from the side to see "him".  The extra arm sticking out (and pointing) from the side of the girl is odd.  When you see it from the side, she's holding his other hand.

Also, the black boy has shoes on, but the girl and second boy are barefoot?  Not sure what the reason, or significance of that, is?

Maybe it all looks better in person, but I'm not likely to ever find out.
