From NY Times

The statue was designed by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, whose likeness of the queen has been stamped on coins in Britain since 1998. The Sunken Garden, conceived by King Edward VII in 1908, was remodeled by Pip Morrison, a landscape architect who specializes in historic gardens.

In a statement, Mr. Morrison said he aimed to create “a calming place for people to visit Kensington Palace to remember the princess.”

The inscription was in the program for her memorial service.

The boy in the front is clearly Black. Look at his hairline. So the kids are not supposed to represent her personal offspring. Just the children of the world. I think it's nice.

I remember she did so much to bring awareness to the problem of land mines across the world.

I've also noticed that bronze, or any other metal, statues rarely look eactly like the people we know from pictures.

@Greeneyedlady21 Oh, thanks so much for another view of the statue. Now I understand the other pair of legs I saw from the front view. Beautiful statue. The boys did well by their mother.

It looks like two of the children don't have any shoes on.  I had no idea what the statue was going to be like, but I did not think it would be this.  I think Diana looks kind of frumpy.

That being said, there is no way to convey how beautiful she was in a statue.  So even if he tried to show her in a more glamous style, it would not work.

Her outfit in 1993 Christmas card has some resemblance to statue outfit

I think it's beautiful.

I do not think statues are meant to be an exact replica of the person.

It's always nice to see Harry and William together.
