It's a wonderful statue that captures the many qualities of Diana as she found her way in the world. I always picture her holding the small child in Africa who was so sick, yet there was so much love and compassion in her expression for that little boy. I think this statue captures that, and it's what the world should see and remember about such a special woman.
Does it look just like her? I don't know, and it's not really the point of the statue. I'm sure her sons worked with and approved the design, and I doubt they wanted the statue to be about them. The success of the statue, IMO, is the compassion and love that Diana had for the children of the world.

@Another new name Sue wrote:I think it's lovely and will not nit-pick this and that about it. It brought tears to my eyes. She was gone too soon. Poor young woman did good in the world under terrible circumstances. Maybe this will help the boys at least be civil to each other.
@Another new name Sue Not thinking the face looks like Diana's (I don't) is hardly nitpicking. The face is an important part of the statue.

She was just a nanny prior to marrying Prince Charles.

It is beautiful, it is Diana.

I admired Princess Diana and just think that this doesn't bring forth her essence. And the children seem to be in angst...I suppose that was intended. The whole thing is disconcerting.

There is an article today in The Telegraph. The title says it all.
The Diana statue proves it – Britain’s public art is at an atrocious low.
The author pretty much dislikes everything about the statue. You can find the article on the Yahoo website.
