I used to ride but stopped after a rather serious accident. After the accident I tried to ride again but never regained the confidence I needed to enjoy it. I was very apprehensive, and couldn't get back in the groove.

From everything that I have read she was not riding the horse. She was walking around her estate and there were horses around. They didn't report how she got back to her home so maybe she had her phone and was conscious enough to call for help. It seems like such a weird thing to happen but I guess if you are in close contact with these large animals things like this can and do happen

She also during that '76 Olympic got thrown from her horse when it failed to achieve a jump and she suffered a concussion at that time too.

She was released from the hospital today.

At her age, maybe she should be looking for another hobby -- something much safer than being around horses.
yes,as we get older our bones are more brittle. We don't bounce back very fast from falls and bumps etc. You don't have to live in a bubble but think a little before you attempt certain things.

I just wish a speedy recovery for Princess Anne and hope she can avoid any more such injuries in the future. At her age, she has to be super careful when she is doing any type of physical activity, especially now with a histoy of at least 2 concussions.

3-4 years ago I tried to get on my grandkid's horse. I assured them that their dad wasn't talking about ME when he said "no one is to get on the horse while we're gone". I miss riding more than I miss good knees
Very gentle horse. I got one leg over the saddle and heard my husband (in my head) "if you fall off, it's not going to be like falling off when you were 15. You will be seriously injured and maybe even killed" (sigh). I climbed off the picnic table and. I have regrets.

I don't know where I read this, but there was originally speculation thatt she was out for a walk and one of the horses kicked her and she was unconscious ... and alone, for who knows how long.
Obviously someone was around and they got her emergency treatment, but it could affect several things in her recuperation process.

I used to ride...in fact, I owned a horse! Those were the days!
