I think she should have had her mother do the honors of giving her loving daughter away in place of her father. Although isn’t it glamorous to be able to say I was given away by the king in heir of England. The parents were there when needed.

@KingstonsMom Did you notice in one of the videos you posted Meghan’s little beagle puppy named Guy rode with the Queen yesterday to Windsor Castle?
Cute!!

@Elom: He actually isn’t giving her away. Just escorting her part way and then she’ll be by herself to walk up the rest of the way to Harry.
I'm actually glad her mother is not walking her down the aisle. There are so many haters, nasty people, so can you imagine the awful comments about her dress, hair, the way she walks, etc? And would that give those awful half sibs an opening to include her in their hateful comments. Then Harry and Meghan getting ragged on for allowing her to be vulnerable to the nastiness.
I think protecting her from that is a very loving thing.

I wonder how Thomas Markle Sr. is feeling. Who knows? Maybe he's happy with the decision, even relieved. Or he could be feeling like a failure. (at least it's Meghan's 2nd wedding)

@BettyNewbie Thanks for the explanation. You saved me from having to explain that Charles is not walking Meghan all the way from the front door. In theory, as a few of us had tossed out in a thread earlier this week, a 37-yr old divorcee doesn't really need anyone to walk her down the aisle. It is touching that Charles will walk with her down the aisle of the Quire, which is the section of the church where the Queen and her family, and the top tier guests will be seated.
The Prince of Wales doesn't need my defense, but when anyone seems to dislike him because of the flaws in his marriage to Diana, I always like to chime in. Had the Queen been as accepting in the 1970s as she seems to be now, Camilla would have been Princess of Wales before she married Lt. Parker Bowles. Sadly, this was not the case, so Charles was forbidden from marrying a woman he loved, continued to love when they had to do so in secret, and still loves more than 40 years later. That'sa\ a great love story.
Nowhere did I say I dislike him because of Diana. That was not his fault although he should never have let her learn about it before the wedding and he also should not have called her "chubby."
Those two would be enough but no, the reason I didn't like him is not something I will go into, not even sure if it's against TOS, but it's a disgraceful trait handed down from his father, not his mother, and at one point to Harry who has obviously changed.
