Also agree that "royalty" is obsolete.
The queen deserves credit for how she led by example during WWII but otherwise not so much. I doubt she had a model childhood.
Charles was barely a toddler when she went off and was gone for about 6 months.
"Doing her duty", I guess.
What about her duty as a mother?
I'm paraphrasing here, but Jacqueline Kennedy has said it doesn't matter what else you do if you are a failure as a mother.

The more we see of William, the more he seems like just another pompous jack azz.
After Charles passes, it might be a good time to abolish the monarchy altogether. The government makes the laws, and the royals are just pomp and silliness. They really aren't necessary.

You say that, but no one can actually prove this is true because there has been no time in recent history when they didn't have a monarchy, so what are they comparing it to?
Tourists go for the architecture and other sights. Most aren't dumb enough to think that some royal is going to invite them in for lunch.

I could swear Charles came from a two parent household. Hate to think it's suggested that only a mother bears sole responsibility for child rearing.

IMO, in the past, most of the attention was given to the heir, not the spare(s). I think Diana was trying to change that. Hopefully, William and Kate are as well.

@Tinkrbl44 Well when we were on tour near Balmoral the flag was up, which meant the Queen was there. Loll no, not an invite in. But we saw the Castle when the Queen was there, lol!
