"Alexa? Initiate meat thermometer!"

"Meat thermometer skill initiated."

"Alexa? Calibrate meat thermometer to the international atomic temperature control!"

"It's still 200."

"Hmmm... Alexa? Why did I spend $100 on this thing?"

"I can't answer that right now. Would you like me to tell you about some other ridiculously overpriced kitchen gadgets?"

"No! Cancel!"

I got the

SMARTRO ST43 Digital Instant Read Meat Thermometer Best for Candy Kitchen Food Cooking BBQ Grill Smoker

off Amazon for 12.99 and love it. There's now a 50% off coupon. It doesn't have WiFi capability to send to your phone but it works like a charm and the reviews are excellent.

Just want to say that when I saw the title of this thread, I was sure it was going to be about Barefoot Dreams. A headscratcher for me how they can charge over $100 for cardigans that look like the ones I jettison at the point they're too stretched out and the pockets are too pouchy to give to Goodwill. Hopefully the BD sweaters are not pre-pilled, too. If they are, I'll start listing mine on eBay.

Back to the topic, if you want a thermometer that goes into the oven with your food, Thermoworks has the Chef Alarm. The Chef Alarm can also tell you the temperature of the oven, regardless of what the oven tells you it is, with its air probe. Glancing at a neat digital monitor on the counter sure beats peering into a hot oven to try to read a spattered old thermometer hanging from a rack, IMO.

I love OXO products all day long, but it's not necessary to pay anywhere near a hundred bucks for a kitchen thermometer.

I've seen the cooks on America's Test Kitchen use a similar looking (and priced) thermometer all the time.  I think it must be invaluable for expensive cuts of meat.
