Whenever I have a craving for fast food, I get the same exact meal. A cheeseburger and value fry at Burger King. One day I went through the drive-up and when they told me the amount of my total, which I know by heart, it had gone up. I questioned the guy at the drive-up and he said they had a price increase.
The next time I went there and ordered the exact same thing, the price was at the original amount and it's been there ever since. I've never seen them reverse a price increase, but I only paid the higher price once, now the price is back to where it used to be. Very unusual, IMO.

Fast food is just that - FAST....it's not cheap or it would be called Cheap Food.
I've been brown bagging my lunch for a long time because it runs close to 10 bucks per day to eat lunch out not to mention the cost of gas to drive there too....that's about 50 bucks per week - 200 per month..even more if you eat in somewhere and tip the waiter....I can make a lot of brown bag meals for that much money.

To answer the question about prices at fast food places - I would hazard a guess that it's all about corporate greed since the workers do not earn $15/hr. Also good to see that Chik-fil-A has been forgiven. smh

I eat out way too much, trying to cut back but yes, eating out for the most part is way expensive with a few exceptions.

I bought 3 regular ol crisp beef tacos and 2 little salsa's (not the free hot sauce but same size) at Taco Time on Thursday for a quickie lunch and it was 6.06.
Last time I bought a taco there it was .99 and that wasnt that long ago.
eta~ I have to say they were stuffed full of goodness tho, I enjoyed them emmensly!

Your order at Popeye's is in no way equal to your chicken sandwich.
Fast food prices? I know the price of Wendy's chili...and that's it! (I think it's reasonable.)

I think it depends on the location. Around here a large drink at McDonald's is $1, but that cost increases as we travel.
Coupons help cut back the cost. Our favorite is the Hardee's 10-piece chicken tender box for $7.99. Many local fast food places have online surveys on the receipts. For completing the survey, McDonald's gives a free quarter pounder with the purchase of a quarter pounder. Subway gives a free cookie.

On 7/14/2014 just bee said:When I worked at McDonalds in high school, a Filet o Fish was only 75 cents....now, unless it's a Friday during Lent, I think they are about $2.95!!!!!!!!We've given up on fast food. The quality is always disappointing and the price is prohibitive. The only thing that still interests me? Our local independent pizza places.
Must be another sign of old age, but I swear I remember there was a time that fast food tasted really good. Carl's Jr., Chicken Delight, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, Wendy's, and dozens of regional places.
When I was in elementary school my mother would occasionally give me money and I'd walk to the McDonald's on Clark Street in Chicago and buy a burger, fries, and a soda. I can't remember now if I'd get an apple pie, too, but I do remember it all cost like $1.06.
God, I'm old.
ETA:
I'm really old! It was a Filet-O-Fish I'd order and they always cost more -- and it still was $1.06!

When I started working at DQ in 1996, I was 16. The blizzard prices were $1.59, $1.79 and $1.99 for small, medium, large. Now it's 2014 and I'm 33... I think the prices are $2.69, $2.89 and over $3 or something at the same restaurant.

A single filet o fish was 4.95 buy itself here last time I bought one, over a year ago. This and the tacos were at joints in the burbs of Seattle, not the city proper.
