Well, it seems that we may have a lot of babies once the eggs hatch. At the end of last week, we were sitting on our porch enjoying the weather and witnessed 2 of them mating. Of course, after that was over, the scenery changed when the female devoured the male which is what we've read happens. Actually, it was quite gross and I won't go into detail, but in a weird sort of way, it was nature at its best I suppose.
We got a few pics of them mating and let it at that. There were 2 females who have laid their ootheca (sack of eggs) on the top part of our bedroom window and they are tightly fastened.
So, I suppose next spring we might see some new babies arrive. Should be interesting.
Anyone else have any preying mantis' stories? TIA.
