Pretty exciting afternoon for my husband and me

My husband and I ran a few errands and stopped for lunch at a favorite restaurant of ours. It was noon and the place was packed. We sat in the back room, at the very back.

So, we'd ordered and some people were walking toward us to be seated. A guy, woman and 3 or 4 kids. The guy was wearing sunglasses. They were headed to the table right next to ours. About 5 feet away from me, the guy took his sunglasses off and I looked at him and thought "hmmmm.... I know him. Who IS that???" Thinking....thinking. I went to high school in this town so I'm going through my mind trying to place him.

Oh, I know who it is!!!! It's Chipper Jones, former 3rd baseman for the Atlanta Braves and the National League MVP in 1999. I was so excited, but kind of said in a low voice to my husband "look to your right. The guy at the table next to us. That's Chipper Jones!" And he said, it sure is.

We didn't bother them of course. I would have loved a picture, but he was with his group and I wouldn't have bothered him for anything. But it was a thrill for us to see him.

Then, on the way home, we stopped and bought a few lottery scratch off tickets. And we won $300 on one of them! Now, that is extremely rare for us. And, again, we were thrilled.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

We always loved Chipper Jones. On my son's b-day when he was little, I'd get him two jersey's, a Chipper Jones from the Braves and a Yankee jersey, maybe Rodriquez or Jeter or ??? maybe Rivera . . . the Braves from Dad and the Yankee's from Mom!

I'm happy for you, lunch with a player, sort of, $300, and good manners.

That's great! Chipper Jones was (is) a class act and a favorite of mine. And then to win $300...wow! Maybe that was your Karma for not bothering Chipper and his family

Re: Pretty exciting afternoon for my husband and me

Great day for you!!! Congrats on your lotto win! I don't think it would have been wrong if you said hi to Chipper when you left, you were a very respectful fan, but I doubt he would have minded if you had said hello, especially after you sat next to them during lunch and didn't make an issue of it. I have met several celebrities over my life, and they always seem appreciative of the acknowledgment, as long as you aren't that "crazy fan", but just a simple "Hello, I enjoy what you do" seems to make them smile. I know celebrities like their privacy, but there is nothing wrong when fans show respect. Regardless, what a fun day for you!!!

I just love it when the universe sends good energy my way. It's a wonderful feeling. Congrats on the $300 and on seeing a professional athlete in person.
