Yes, we built, but have now been in this house almost 30 years, so...a lot has changed.

One thing I will say is I did not get custom built, solid wood kitchen cabinets and not sorry.  They've held up well.  There are many nice cabinets with a choice of interiors.  I have some slide out drawers and they are now considered dated.  I still like them.  

I would still go for a good quality cabinet with simple lines.  All those little indents are a place for dirt to hide 

We opted for just plain old Formica countertops and I've never been sorry.  At the time, there wasn't much in the way of fancy stone tops.  I've taken care of mine and they are still nice.  I opted for dark green marbelized formica.  

DH normally has the countertops done by specialists as they do all the measuring and cutting.

Cannot go wrong with American Standard.  You can get a slightly raised bowl I believe and it doesn't look odd.  That way they are a bit higher than the regular fixture.

I also like an elongated shape.  All our fixtures are white.  I was concerned with getting tired of a color.  

So many "brand names" are now made by the same company, so it's hard to say one over another. 

He's been doing a high end job and had trouble getting the stove the homeowner wanted.  She went with the third choice down, but is happy just the same.  There are still "supply chain" issues in some things.

And, there is so much nice flooring now that we didn't have when we built.  All our floors are the standard width oak installed in the traditional way.

Honestly, I like many of the newer floors better, but since we had this floor installed throughout the home (even in the kitchen, but not bathrooms), I'm accustomed to the look.

Hi y'all: We have a big gully washer of a thunderstorm going on 20 minutes now but the current weather forecast indicates mostly cloudy with thunderstorms after 9 p.m. I will trust what I am hearing and seeing right now 😳🤷‍♀️😃.We returned home before the rain started.

DH had his follow up appointment with his cardiologist this afternoon. I wore my rain coat for the freezer office. We waited in the patient exam room for over an hour. DH heart good but busted for his weight and no activity or exercise. I will get busted next month when I see my doctor. Reality not fun. 🤗♥️
