Good Morning Precious Preds and Preds very special friends. We have been busy with DH doctor appointments this week. Plus trying to do extra laundry. Yesterday afternoon and this morning busy shopping on line to finish Christmas shopping. Really pushing to purchase and send gifts going out of state. Almost finished except for the gift cards that will be purchased locally. Thanksgiving will be just the two of us. DH still insisted that he wanted Turkey and ham. I made my dressing last week and have enough in the freezer for TG and Christmas. I have enough collards in the freezer for both holidays. DH still requested the cranberry salad and cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole and Mac and cheese. Yep all for just two- correction. DH just returned from lunch and stated he invited his church friend because he said so far none of his family have stated any plans for TG. He is a very sweet and doesn't expect any thing special . We always invite him for Christmas. He said it would be ok if we used paper plates . I always have to go boxes so he can take extra home. I feel better now about sharing and not having so much food.🤗❤️🐝

How nice to hear from you.

I signed up, but haven't posted.  Not sure I will.  Nothing against the new board, but I've not much to say.

Maryland finally got some freezing temps.  We have a hickory nut tree that is so yellow it looks lit from within.  We used to drive to see the leaves, and there are many right in the neighborhood.  I love it.

Yes, I have been busy with fundraising...and sewing.  Always more to do.  It keeps me sane.

My "family" is mostly just my sister and her girls.  We spent my birthday in NJ with her and will drive up again Christmas.  My niece from California will come out and her older sister lives right down the street form "mom"....my sister.  We'll stay just a few days, but will get to see my Great Niece after many years.

My husband's younger brother and his older sister are staying in our cottage this week for a pre-Thanksgiving Day gathering.  They are techinically "family" but not mine Cat LOL  I don't mind.

I had hoped to get to Ocean City before winter, but not likely....and hoping to get to Biltmore again for the Christmas season (not likely).  My husband has taken on a huge remodeling job on a waterfront home and....he'll be there and very busy all winter.

So it goes.  In the meantime, I enjoy my time to think big thoughts and sew or do whatever I please.

We've both gotten our boosters and several places in Maryland are dropping the mask requirements.  I will continue to wear mine until next Spring.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas!

@Witchy Woman

That all sounds so interesting.  I would love to see the Biltmore at Christmas.

@Bri369

DH and I took this trip many years ago...it's not that far a drive from Maryland...we stayed two nights I think.

It was magical.  This was before they had a hotel on the grounds and we stayed someplace close and small in Asheville.  It was the first weekend they were opened for the Christmas season.

We had a late dinner in the converted stable, then took a  guided tour of the house.  Breathtaking.

Next day we did a "behind the scenes" and "rooftop" tour which were so interesting.  Many of the areas were still under renovation at the time, especially on the roof.

It was eyeopening to see how the "help" lived in the home, but I undertand the Vanderbilts were very generous to the staff.  However, their quarters were what I would call spartan.

If you are a lover of homes, their furnishings and the guilded age, you must get there one year.

That's why I want to go back...to see how things have changed.

That sounds incredible.  I can see why you want to go back.  We were there about 10 years ago.  I would love to see it all decorated for Christmas.  I bet it is absolutely spectacular.
