Hello Lovelies,

I am happy to see all doing well.  And how nice that @Southern Bee will be getting a gift she wants and will use for her birthday.  Some very lucky people will be getting her jams.

Just wanted to say that my DH’s cousin passed yesterday am and is now in heaven, to be sure.  He was taken care of in Hospice.  He was only a year older than DH, and they grew up together in the same town.  A reminder to treasure every day.

So sorry for your loss.🙏🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hope your DH had a good check-up.

Sorry your watch is letting you down, you should get credit for EVERY step.  Can it be returned?

Have you looked at overstock (.) com?

I have found several watches there that I really liked.  They don’t carry huge lots of items, but if you keep an eye on something, it will likely come down in price.  That is unless it sells out!

Isn’t that the way?

Good Morning Precious Preds and Preds very special friends. I have been very busy. Thursday received email that my friend from Alabama will be visiting for one day on a Saturday sometime in the first two weeks of July. I also try to have her something baked to take back home since she travels 3 1/2 hours to see me. Got up early Friday morning to clean the kitchen and counter because I wanted  to bake something. I wanted to set everything out to be ready to start baking after 2 p.m. because the weather would be clear and sunny. I am still trying to learn how to use my new kitchen aid mixer. Friend loves my cream cheese pound cake and banana nut bread. Well- I was in the kitchen until after 8 p.m. I decided to get my big cake pan out instead of the loaf pan. For me the results were not good. Instead of a beautiful light golden brown the cake was very dark and heavy. I double checked the temperature and cook time. When the cake cooled decided to cut it. The inside was not moist and tender but gummy. Per mixer manual had set the speed for 6 to cream the butter, sugar and cream cheese plus everything was room temperature etc per the recipe instructions. With internet research for baking pound cakes with bad results. The mixer should have been on speed 4 or medium plus the oven temperature. The recipe said preheat to 350, internet suggested 325. I was carefully watching the cake cook and took it out of the oven a few minutes early but the top center was still gummy. Took a short break and decided to bake another cake but using loaf pans and making all the needed corrections. The loaf cake was totally opposite. I was about to trash the first cake but DH wanted to taste it and DH liked it better than the loaf cake🤷‍♀️😳😀!?? I wanted to make the banana nut bread but the  weather was bad and had to wait until Sunday afternoon. I normally make it using Bisquick but it was beyond the expiration date. Found recipe on line to use a butter cake mix. The results were good. Having trouble baking and me thinking that I can make jellly or jam😳😳😳😆😆😆. Electric water bath canner has been shipped and waiting for delivery 🚚.
Well currently raining and will be on and off for the next few days. The weather was also the reason not waiting until the last minute to bake something for my friend. I have had good success freezing the pound cake and banana nut bread. Stay safe and cool.🤗❤️

@Drythe :Thanks for the information. I decided to keep the watch because I like the display on the watch and the band is comfortable until I can save money and hopefully do better research for something else. I got my pedometer out that I normally wear around my neck but it needs a new battery. I liked the idea of the watch for a step counter instead of wearing something around my neck or clipped to my waist.

@SouthernBee

just my thoughts  and i dont mean to offend and my apologies if i hurt ur feelings

i dont have a watch that count steps but the old fashion where you stick the device in ur pocket or soemthing like that

anyway - there is gizmo in there that counts a step if it is tilted a certain way

i'm imagining - a leveler (sp) of sorts

Screen Shot 2021-06-29 at 3.39.52 AM.png

so when it tilts a step is counted

if ur gait is uneven - it may not register correctly

idk how a watch works but perhaps if u swing ur arm or leg when walking a certain way - the watch may not detect the movement

but then what do i know

i dont usually get instructions on the speed number setting but rather medium until light in color - mix until just incorporated etc

what does the internet know - lol

u r a good friend to bake something

we are in the 90s - for the next few days - too hot

@Yahooey : Thanks for the info.F6B87C1D-C470-469F-968B-02B739010DB8.jpeg

I have purchased several different brands of pedometers and this was the best one. My retirement uniform consists of denim skirts with pockets. I tried clipping the pedometer  to the pocket, to the waistband and wearing it on the strap around the neck which is not very comfortable and doesn't look great but gave the most accurate step count. I do walk with a limp and out with DH use my walking cane, but out with other friends or in the house use my walker and still provides accurate count of the steps. I do appreciate all your help and suggestions.🤗❤️
